First Sherpa meeting: the G20 members have been presented the agenda of priorities
Two days of intense work on videoconference to illustrate the topics of the Italian G20 Presidency.

On Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd of January the first meeting of the Sherpas – representatives of governments and international organizations part of the G20 – took place on videoconference. It was the first formal step of a long journey that, through working groups and technical sessions, will converge towards the drafting of the final communiqué to be adopted by the Heads of State and Government at the Rome Summit on 30th and 31st October 2021.
The meeting was aimed at presenting the priorities of the Italian Presidency, which is based on three key interconnected pillars: People, Planet and Prosperity. This holistic concept was particularly appreciated by the partners, who shared the Presidency’s goal of ensuring a rapid response to the pandemic and, at the same time, an economic recovery focused on people’s needs.
Many issues were addressed during the two days, including through the interventions of the chief negotiators who chair the various G20 working groups:

- Culture and Tourism – Uberto Vanni d’Archirafi
The G20 process will continue in the coming days of January. On the 25th the first meeting of the Deputy Ministers of the Economy and the Deputy Governors of the Central Banks will take place. The Health Working Group will meet on 26th and 27th of January, with a focus on the impact of the COVID-19 emergency on the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. Finally, on 28th and 29th, the working group on Education will officially kick off its activities.
